The Skill Points option just makes it so you can select everything on the Skill portion of character creation. Pointers should populate for everything and you can then set it to the maximum value of 4 for character creation before moving on. If you mess up, disable and re-enable the option and try again when you have full 6 points available again. The Attribute Pointer option, you enable it at the Attribute section when you have full 6 points available, then you add 1 point and ONLY 1 point to each of the attributes.
